The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is responding to a fatal wrong-way crash involving two vehicles at Joe Ebert Road and Bloomfield Ridge Place. One person is dead, according to HCSO.
Here's what happened, according to a report from HCSO:
A 1999 two-door Honda Accord was being driven by Dwight Bradley Thomas, 66, of Tampa, heading westbound in the eastbound lane of Joe Ebert Road after clearing the crest of a small hill.
A 2003 four-door silver Mitsubishi driven by Christopher Lee Turner, 32, of Plant City, was eastbound in his designated lane when he saw the Honda come over in his lane.
Turner hit his brakes when he was struck head on by Thomas, HCSO says.
Thomas died on scene.
Turner was taken to Tampa General Hospital with serious injuries.
