Ruta Jouniari opened the Universal Crescent Clinic in Sarasota this month. The former health insurance worker teamed up with Sarasota/Bradenton doctors to open the low cost clinic. She said some patients can receive services for free.

"We had a patient who was severely asthmatic she was given inhalers, given a prescription and sent on her way," said Jouniari.

Patrick Pitre attended the opening day of the clinic. He was able to see a doctor for free.

"One of the reasons most people aren't going to the doctor is cause is so gosh darn expensive, so anytime you see healthcare for cheap that's a good thing," said Pitre.

The clinic has general practice doctors, plus some specialists are on hand.

"People assume that this clinic is setup for the poorest of the poor and its not they are people stuck without insurance," said Jouniari.

The clinic is only open on Saturday's during the month of October.
