Lots of us spent the last month feasting with our family and friends -- now it is time to ring in the new year!

Better fitness is one of the most popular resolutions Americans make, however only about 8% will succeed in sticking to our plans.

My House Fitness has these tips when laying and following through with a fitness goal.

First, set small, achievable goals. Don't jump into an exercise routine that you know will be hard to stick to. Do think about what your goal is for that week. (He will elaborate)

Also, focus on your progress. Don't get caught up on how it's taking too long. Doing so, will create the illusion that you will never get there. Do celebrate small wins to help give you motivation to continue.

Make it fun and less of a task. Don't look at your gym bag as the enemy, rather choose the one that's right for you or has a fun atmosphere. Do look at exercise as part of you and stick to a schedule. Like brushing your teeth, going to workout enough times will make it habit.

Finally, you can't out-train a bad diet and make sure you are drinking plenty of water during the day and practicing portion control.
