FedEx delivering on Christmas Day

Posted

FedEx said it's "doing everything possible" to deliver packages by Christmas despite bad weather and heavier-than-expected last-minute shipment volumes.

"All customer counters at FedEx Express stations across the U.S. will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, allowing customers to pick up shipments," a statement from a FedEx spokesman read. "FedEx Express employees have volunteered to work these Christmas Day shifts for the benefit of our customers."

While record warm Christmas Day temperatures hit parts of the East Coast, rain and other severe weather have hampered deliveries elsewhere.

FedEx is pointing customers to check their delivery status at fedex.com or calling 1-800-GOFEDEX with a tracking number. FedEx Office locations will not be open on Christmas Day.

FedEx Express said it's running "limited delivery operations" on Christmas Day in some markets to deliver shipments that could not be delivered before Christmas.

"Priority is being given to residential shipments for Christmas Day deliveries. Many of these will be re-attempts to customers who were not at home to accept previously attempted deliveries," the company statement read.

While some social media users express their anger at the company with the hashtag #FedExFail, others empathized with FedEx employees who are working unexpectedly on Christmas.
