Polk County investigators believe they now know why a man shot and killed his ex-girlfriend before turning the gun on himself.
Detectives say Calindry Jean of Margate shot and killed his ex-girlfriend, Melgan Francois, and wounded her new boyfriend, Steevenson Joseph of Orlando.
Jean then turned the gun on himself.
Investigators say Francois had moved on and started another relationship, and Jean didn't like it.
The murder-suicide happened while Francois and Joseph were sitting in a car parked in her driveway.
"It's tough. It's a tough situation to deal with," said Duvard Francois, Melgan's father who was at work at the time.
He said Jean drove up all the way from Ft. Lauderdale in a rage with the sole intention to kill his daughter.
"If you don't like somebody, why don't you leave that person so they can live again. Why do you have to kill?" he said.
Today, Duvard flipped through a photo album, reliving the brighter days with his 20-year-old daughter.
Francois was going through nursing school and is also a mother of two kids -- a two year old and five year old.
Duvard still has now idea when or how to break the news to them.
"The little one, he's going to ask for his mom," he said.
The third person shot, Joseph, is still receiving treatment at a local hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery.
