HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — Hillsborough County is set to give the go-ahead on several road projects in Temple Terrace starting in 2020.

Look at the planned projects

Many of them are designed to keep kids safe on their way to school.

Temple Terrace Elementary will get more than a thousand feet of new sidewalk along Broadway Avenue from Bullard Parkway to Flotto Avenue. There will also be new sidewalks on Ridgedale Avenue and Fillian Avenues.

Woodmont Charter School will also have more than 1,500 feet of sidewalk fixes along Whiteway Drive, Parade Street and more.

This is all part of the All For Transportation Sales Tax, a 1% transportation sales tax approved in November 2018 by Hillsborough County voters.

Within the City of Temple Terrace city leaders said they intend to use it to improve repair and maintain existing streets, roads and bridges. That includes fixing potholes or reducing congestion and transportation vulnerabilities.

They also aim to relieve rush hour bottlenecks and improve flow of traffic on existing roads, streets and through intersections. As well as adding transportation safety improvements like bicycle or pedestrian infrastructure and related improvements that make walking and biking safer.

However, the All For Transportation Sales Tax still remains caught in the middle of a legal battle.
