TAMPA, Fla. — Four different e-scooter companies are working through the permitting process right now to come to the city of Tampa.
2,400 scooters are expected to be on the sidewalks very soon. In fact, ABC Action News has learned that the companies should be done with permitting and ready to rent by the end of May.
E-scooters will be a one year pilot project in Tampa.
Tampa set some strict rules after issues in other cities. Those issues ranged from broken down scooters on sidewalks to injuries.
Tampa city leaders hope the strict rules will limit the issues here.
