TAMPA, Fla. — City leaders are now working toward possibly repairing nearly a 140 sidewalks in dozens of Tampa neighborhoods in an effort to improve safety.
However, this comes as the City of Tampa continues to experience a backlog of sidewalk repairs due to a lack of funding, according to city transportation leaders.
The city still needs to look into the locations below but will consider them for repair or replacement over the next 5 years, according to the city's Comprehensive Improvement Plan.
Jean Duncan, Director of Transportation and Stormwater Services, says the city gets only about $500,000 a year to build and repair sidewalks.
