Former USF quarterback charged with burglary on Memorial Day

A former USF quarterback was arrested and charged with felony burglary Monday morning. 

According to police documents, Steven Eugene Bench, 22, broke inside a Tampa business in the 2300 block of Kennedy Boulevard around 3:40 a.m.

Once the alarm sounded, Bench panicked and started running around the business. He then broke out the front glass door to escape and he was arrested shortly after.

Officials say Bench admitted to police that he broke into the building, but would not explain why. He has also been charged with misdemeanor criminal mischief. His bond has been set at $8,000. 

Bench played with the USF Bulls from 2013-2015.
