Blue Bell Creameries is expanding its recall for products manufactured in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma due to a possible health risk. One of its products produced there tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes, according to the U.S. Food and Drug administration.
Listeria can weaken the immune system, especially in young children, frail, or elderly people. It can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. Even healthy individuals may suffer short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
The products being recalled are distributed to retailers in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Wyoming.
