St. Pete Police are searching for two men responsible for the shooting of an 80-year-old man. According to police, two men were involved in an argument that escalated to the men shooting at each other on Upton Court South.

Joe Rosemond was sitting outside of his apartment at the time. He was shot in the wrist and stomach.

"He was just out here sitting down, minding his own business," said Rosemond's son, Joe Watkins.

A neighbor alerted Watkins that his father had been shot around 9:30 Wednesday night. Watkins immediately rushed outside to help.

"He was like moaning and screaming," said Watkins. "I couldn't believe it, devastated."

Rosemond underwent surgery Wednesday night at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg and is expected to live, according to police.

"He's talking a lot," said Doristeen Wilson, a family friend who visited Rosemond at the hospital Thursday. "He's much better than he was last night or this morning."

Investigators believe someone in the neighborhood may know the men involved in the shooting. They're asking for anyone with information to come forward.

"Stop being so scared," said Watkins. "If this was your father, you'd want somebody to come forward, please."
