When we met Dawn and her four children last month they were living in a hotel room and running out of money.

Dawn and another victim, Michele Laws, lost their savings to a woman posing as a property manager with homes to rent.

Hands Across the Bay offered to replace the money these victims lost, all $3,000. We surprised both Dawn and Michelle with the news.

For Dawn and her children whose faces we’ve hidden to spare them any embarrassment at school the money means a lifeline in the form of a deposit on a new home. Dawn was at a loss for words when she found out a complete stranger had come to her rescue.

Michele told us she’s been staying with a friend. The unexpected gift will help her to secure a new apartment.

For Hands Across the Bay and Julie Weintraub helping families who've fallen thru the cracks along with domestic violence victims is part of an ongoing mission to assist those in need.
