For burgers on a budget, try bulking up your burgers with high protein ingredients.
Chef Anthony LoGerfo with Publix cooking school suggests you try quinoa, lentils or tofu to mix in with the ground meat you choose. He said bread can be too heavy.
Look for sale items as sides, and fruit and vegetables. Also look for sale lettuce, tomatoes and cheese for the burgers.
If you want to try skewers, you can go with a skirt steak or flank steak for lower cost. You can also use cubed stew meat if you marinate it first. That will help pack flavor without a high cost.
