Walmart makes refunds easier with app

Returning items can be a hassle, which may be why we often wind up with piles of receipts and items we've never even used. Though shopping online is truly a dream come true for busy people, the thought of shipping an item back or standing in line at customer service can be daunting enough to skip it altogether. But, Walmart's creating an all-new way for you to speed up the returns process to make getting refunded for an item less of a nightmare. Meet the soon-to-launch app program that will change the returns process for the better: Mobile Express Returns. Thanks to this function, customers who shop online will be able to easily request a refund for an item within the Walmart app.

How It Works

The process seems simple. Through the app, you'll select the item you purchased and would like to return. You'll be prompted to answer a few questions about why you'd like to return the item, etc. Then, you'll be given a bar code that needs to be scanned in the store. Once you go in to a Walmart location, you'll be able to stand in the Mobile Express Lane for a faster check-out process. Simply let the cashier scan the code you were given within the app. Then, that's it. Your account will be credited as soon as the next day. This service will begin in early November (just in time for the holiday season!) and will extend to in-store purchases later in 2018. "We know that returning an item and waiting for a refund, especially for a product purchased online, isn’t always seamless, so we’ve completely transformed the process for our customers – whether they are shopping in stores or at Walmart.com,” said Daniel Eckert, senior vice president, Walmart Services and Digital Acceleration, Walmart U.S. in a press release. He went on: “By leveraging our physical stores and the Walmart app, we’re changing the returns game in ways that only Walmart can do. Throughout the year, we’ve added features to our app to make it an even more powerful, time-saving tool for our customers shopping online and in our stores; Mobile Express Returns is our latest enhancement.”

Walmart Shopping Improvements

So, sit back and let the games begin.
