It's hard to know exactly what to do with a car seat that your child has outgrown. But, Target's here to make getting rid of it easy for you. They're re-launching their car seat trade-in event which allows you to drop off your old car seat in order to be recycled and in return, receive a 20 percent off coupon for your next car seat purchase. The store offered this program back in April, and it was extremely popular. According to a press release, they collected over 80,000 car seats during the trial, totaling over one million pounds of car seats to be recycled. "After collecting more than a million pounds of car seat material to be recycled from the program in April, we’re excited to be bringing this amazing program back,” Michelle Wlazlo, senior vice president of apparel and accessories at Target, said in a press release . “We’re always looking for ways to make the lives of our guests easier and we’re proud to be able to help them reduce household clutter in a responsible and environmentally-friendly way.” They've teamed up with TerraCycle , a company that focuses on recycling hard-to-recycle wastes and turns them into storage bins and more, to collect car seats again from Sept. 10-Sept. 23.
How It Works
There will be a drop off station either at the front of participating stores or in the baby section. You can take your car seat there from Sept. 10-Sept. 23. Once you do, find a Target employee to receive your coupon. You must redeem the 20 percent off coupon by Oct. 7 in stores or online. It's valid on purchases of car seats, booster seats, car seat bases and travel systems.
There are plenty of car seats and more to choose from, and there are some serious savings involved thanks to the additional 20 percent off. For instance, the Maxi-Cosi Adorra 2.0 Travel System typically retails for $599.99 and includes a stroller and a forward-facing car seat. With the 20 percent off you can score this combo for $480. That's over $100 in savings for not one, but two pieces! And there are plenty more deals where that came from! So, have your car seat ready to donate before Sept. 23 to take advantage of this limited time offer.
