Friday is National Flip Flop Day. If you thought the day celebrates the politics of Washington you would be wrong. Instead it honors the popular footwear wore during summer.
For the ninth year in a row Tropical Smoothie Cafe locations will be giving away free smoothies to customers who wear flip flops in to the company's stores.
Anyone who wears flip flops to a Tropical Smoothie Cafe between 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. on Friday can receive a free 24 ounce Jetty Punch Smoothie.
The event is a fundraiser for Camp Sunshine at Sebago Lake in Maine. The camp hosts children with children with life-threatening illnesses and their families for a week of fun.
The camp is free and makes sure doctors and health care professionals are on hand so the kids can have a great time while being monitored.
People who donate between $1 and $4 will receive a paper flip flop sign that will hang in the restaurant. Customers who wish to make a bigger donation can purchase a $10 re-usable mug featuring artwork designed by a previous Camp Sunshine camper. All proceeds from mug purchases go directly to Camp Sunshine.
Customers who make a donation between $5 and $9 will receive a key fob with a 30% discount code that can be used at feelgoodz.com. The website will donate 10% of all purchases made with key fob codes to Camp Sunshine.
