With a lot of world travel going into hibernation thanks to the coronavirus, you might not want to travel this spring to see the famous cherry blossom trees in full bloom in Japan, Washington, D.C., and other parts of the world.

Instead, you can bring the blooms right to you with a purchase of your very own cherry blossom tree. Home Depot has several varieties available for shipping, all for $38.98. These trees can grow as high as 50 feet and as wide as 20 feet for quite the impressive display.

Many of the trees’ leaves turn red, copper and orange in the fall too, for another season’s burst of color.

The Kwanzan cherry blossom tree is one of the most popular of these gorgeous flowering beauties. It has orb-like clusters of blossoms and is one of the easiest cherry blossom tree varieties to grow, according to Home Depot.

The Yoshino variety has pinkish-white blooms and is the ancient tree that first brought fame to the cherry blossom tree. These are the ones you see in Washington.

The Accolade variety is one of the first types to bloom each year and puts out seashell-shaped blossoms. This tree has a copper-colored trunk and orange leaves in fall.

The dwarf-sized Mt. Fuji variety is a newer take on the original Yoshino tree and has umbrella-shaped blossoms.

If you’re looking for a shrub that’s lower to the ground, Home Depot also has a white ($15.79) and a pink ($15.07) variety of the Yuki cherry blossom (Deutzia) shrub. They are both well-rated and take up less space for those that don’t have room to grow an entire cherry blossom tree.

Cherry blossoms like to grow in full sun or to have at least four to six hours of direct sunlight each day, according to the Arbor Day Foundation. They also grow best in “acidic, alkaline, loamy, sandy, well-drained, wet and clay soils,” it says. So make sure you have the right conditions and a balanced blend fertilizer to help these beauties bloom.

Are you a fan of the cherry blossom? They’re such a beautiful sight in spring!
