WQYK radio host Dave McKay found dead in St. Petersburg home

Tampa Bay has lost a legendary voice.
 
99.5 WQYK radio host Dave McKay was found dead in his St. Petersburg apartment on Thursday. The radio station shared the news with a Facebook post on Thursday morning. 
 
 
McKay's real name is Steve Ehmke. He was 55 years old.
 
According to St. Petersburg Police, he didn't show up for work this morning for the Dave and Veronica Show.
 
A co-worker who lives in his building checked on him and discovered he was dead.
 
There is no sign of foul play, but police are still investigating the death.
 
Ehmke lived in the apartment alone.
 
On air personalities at the radio station took the time to remember Dave on air on Thursday morning. They fought back tears as they shared their memories of the longtime radio host. They said he was a pro in the radio industry and he had a lot of respect from the artists.
 
Dave was a contributor for ABC Action News.  He covered community events and country music award shows for several years.
