Matthew: Category 4 hurricane with 145 mph winds making landfall in Haiti

Hurricane Matthew remains a Category 4 storm with 145 mph winds.
 
It is currently making landfall over western Haiti. It will continue heading north and move over eastern Cuba later today
 
Devastating impacts from storm surge, extreme winds, heavy rains, flash floods, and/or mudslides in the are all possible for areas in Haiti, Cuba.
 
 

Matthew will then emerge over the Bahamas and continue heading north then a dangerous northwest turn for Florida.

Direct hurricane impacts are now possible in Florida later this week. Tropical storm and/or hurricane watches are likely to go up today for portions of the Florida peninsula.

 
Matthew then may pose a threat to the Carolinas into next week.
