Hundreds of Hillsborough County residents gathered in front of Cafe Hey on Franklin Street Saturday morning to protest the TBX Project.

The project aims to add express-lanes to I-275, but more than a hundred homes and businesses near the interstate would have to be demolished for the plan to to proceed.

"It is a tremendous waste of money and it will be devastating to our community," said Linda Saul-Sena.

The Stop TBX group members walked near the interstate in the Tampa Heights community wearing yellow ponchos and holding up yellow crime scene tape.

"We are going to be wearing yellow ponchos will yellow crime scene tape between us showing what a crime this would be to the community," said Saul-Sena.

The multibillion dollar project is suppose to cut commute times, but some group members said some transportation studies show the project will have the opposite effect.

"Its going to be induced demand, you build a road and widen it and quickly people will find that faster route and they will flock to it," said Jason Ball.

Group members said they will continue holding marches until a final decision about the project is made.
