The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office arrested an Englewood woman Tuesday for Aggravated Battery after she shot her live-in boyfriend during a dispute on November 18.
According to deputies when they arrived to the home just after 2:00 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting, Jeanne Martelli, 51, claimed to have shot the victim in the abdomen after the couple got into a physical dispute.
The victim was immediately transported to the hospital. While there he later denied any physical altercation and told detectives that he was unsure why Martelli shot him.
After investigating the evidence from inside the home and the 911 calls from the incident, deputies determined the victim's claims were true and charged Martelli with Aggravated Battery with a Firearm.
Martelli was arrested Tuesday and booked into the Sarasota County jail where she remains without bond.
