PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — A new bill proposed in the Florida House of Representatives has parents angry.

If your kid gets bullied, you can get a voucher to send your child to a private school. The bully stays. If the bully bullies other kids…those parents can get vouchers to move their kids too.

Parents say HB1 makes no sense and it’s a ridiculous idea that doesn't combat the problem.

Parents argue the new proposed bill basically makes their student (the bullying victim) uproot their life instead of the child doing the bullying. Plus, the plan would cost an estimated $30 million a year.

Parents in the Shore Acres Neighborhood of St. Pete are meeting with local house member Ben Diamond at Shore Acres Elementary School Tuesday night from 6-7 p.m. to voice concern about this bill and others impacting their kids.
