Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash in which a 19-year-old pregnant Largo woman tragically lost her unborn baby on Wednesday night on Ulmerton Road in Largo.

Kerriann Elders was 6 months pregnant and had already named her baby Vincent James Parkhurst. The impact of the crash killed the baby, which was due in November.

Florida Highway Patrol says that just before 10 p.m. Elders, her boyfriend and their friends were driving in a Toyota Scion going westbound on State Road 688 (Ulmerton Road). Elders was a passenger in the car being driven by her friend 23-year-old Anthony Christian Forte. Forte was driving nearly twice the speed limit down the 45 MPH road. At the same time, 60-year-old Mark Williams in a Jeep tried to make a left onto Ulmerton Road from 121st Street North. Williams stopped at the blinking red light and pulled out into the intersection. The scion and jeep collided.

Williams and Elders are both still in the hopital. The father of the unborn baby, David James Parkhurst, and Forte were also taken to the hospital. Drake Allen Doles was another passenger in the Scion, who was not hurt.

Charges are pending against Forte for excessive speed, according to FHP.

Drivers who use the intersection of Ulmerton Road and 121st Street North say the intersection is very dangerous and they're urging FDOT to convert the traffic signal from a blinking emergency signal to a full traffic light. Drivers making a left hand turn have to yield to 6 lanes of traffic on Ulmerton Road.

FDOT tells ABC Action News they will study the speed, traffic signal and intersection following this fatal crash.
