Thousands of fans arrived at Raymond James stadium on Wednesday, hours before the U2 concert to secure a good spot.
“If you’re in the top 20,” said Terra Huff, “you’re definitely going to be in the front.”
Fans waited to get a numbered wristband on Friday morning, ensuring their spot in general admission.
It also prevented them from having to wait in line all day, instead they could get their number and leave with a reserved spot.
“I really like it,” said Noah Adelson, “I mean, I don’t think it’s practical to have a 1000 people waiting outside for a couple of days.”
Tens of thousands were expected to fill the stadium for the concert after more than 70,000 filled Raymond James for the band in 2009.
Wednesday’s concert was Jaime Rodriguez’s 21st U2 concert.
He drove to Tampa from Miami where he also saw the JoshuaTree tour and says while security for such a large crowd is on his mind, he’s not letting it stop him from having a good time.
“I see stadiums stepping up their gam.” He said”I see enhanced metal detectors; I see very clear bag policies and things like that.”
Weather also was on top of fans minds, organizers for the concert said rain or shine the show would go on.
