A pedestrian was struck and killed when he attempted to cross East Fowler Avenue near Williams Road in unincorporated Hillsborough County Saturday night, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
James D. Hatcher Jr., 49, of Riverview was struck by a 2007 Chevy pickup as he tried to cross from the south side of Fowler Avenue to reach the north side about 9 p.m. a Florida Highway Patrol news release states.
The pickup, driven by Jordan Colin Bean, 22, of Thonotosassa, was traveling westbound on Fowler, east of Williams Road, when the incident occurred.
Hatcher was died at the scene.
Charges are pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation, the release states.
