One person and two dogs died in a mobile home fire in Citrus County overnight, authorities said.

Citrus County Fire Rescue responded to a mobile home fire at 8250 West Fairoak Court in Crystal River at about 12:46 a.m. Sunday, Citrus County sheiff's spokeswoman Heather Yates said in a news release.

When firefighters from Connell Heights arrived, fire and smoke was pouring from the structure. They were joined by fire engines from Crystal River, Homosassa, Pine Ridge and DeRosa.

Firefighters launched a defensive assault on the fire because of the extent of the fire, the news release states. Crews were able to bring the fire under control within eight minutes.

When the fire was knocked down, firefighters entered the mobile home to conduct a search and found one individual and two large dogs deceased.

"It is hard to put into words just how difficult it is to lose someone like this," said Battalion Chief L.J. White. "We are praying for the family and friends who have lost this loved one."

The State Fire Marshal was contacted to respond and investigate. At this time, the fire does not look suspicious, Yates said in the release.

The victim's name has not been released due to the investigation, Yates added.

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office will not release further information due to the State Fire Marshal's probe, according to the release.
