Crews from Hillsborough Fire Rescue battled a two-alarm fire at a home in Plant City on Friday.

At approximately 2:40 p.m. HCFR received a 911 call reporting a residential structure fire near the intersection of Joe Macintosh Road and Maple Drive.

When crews first arrived on scene they reported a single family home on fire.

Firefighters made an initial attack, and quickly called for a second alarm to provide increased manpower. This was due to the size of the structure, and the heat of the day.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control in about an hour. But only a shell remains of the home.

The cause of the fire appears to be accidental.

Residents told investigators they were cooking on a propane grill at the front of the home when they went inside to grab seasoning for the food and returned the front of the home on fire.

There were 10 people displaced in the fire, and are currently obtaining help from the Red Cross. No injuries were reported.
