Raymond weakens to tropical storm near Mexico

ACAPULCO, Mexico (AP) -
Raymond has weakened from a hurricane to a tropical storm and is now moving away from Mexico's Pacific coast after its rains caused some flooding and led authorities to evacuate a village threatened by mudslides from two soaked hills.
The U.S. National Hurricane Center says Raymond's maximum sustained winds early Wednesday have decreased to near 65 mph with additional weakening possible over the next few days.
The storm is centered about 155 miles south-southwest of the beach resort of Zihuatanejo and is moving west-northwest at 8 mph.
