Michael Namey was a UCF freshman software engineering major who died Tuesday at Central Florida Regional Hospital.
The Central Florida Future reports that he died a day after he collapsed in class.
Now the fellow student - who also happened to be a trained first responder - who tried to help Namey during the massive heart attack has posted a heartbreaking open letter on Facebook. In it, he apologizes to Namey and his parents. He also pleads to others to learn the basics of CPR and AED.
"As a first responder, I was his fighting chance ... I am sorry I failed you. I'm sorry you lost your life so soon."
