An 8-year-old girl has been transported to Tampa General Hospital after being struck by a vehicle on Tuesday morning.
The crash happened on North Florida Avenue.
Both lanes of Florida Avenue were shut down between Hanlon and Stanley due to the crash, but after investigating the crash and taking photographs, Tampa Police have re-opened the roadway.
Tampa Police says the girl was walking eastbound on Hollywood Street to school with a sibling when she stepped off of the curb and was hit in the face by a side mirror of a blue BMW traveling southbound on Florida Avenue. She was rushed to Tampa General Hospital with injuries described as "non-life threatening."
Police say that at this time, it does not appear that the driver of the crash will be cited.
