Elephants and primates find surprises in their enclosures

TAMPA, Fla. - The Lowry Park Zoo held the annual Pumpkin Toss for some animals on exhibit.

The toss is meant to stimulate the animals' minds and provide rewards for what would otherwise be a routine day.

The habitat areas that received treats included Africa, primates and Asia.

One elephant stepped on a pumpkin to break it open.

Some primates reached right inside the pumpkins which were already cut open at the top.

Zoo visitors seemed to enjoy watching the animals play with their new findings.
