Barking dog brings attention to fire outside Tampa home with woman, baby inside

TAMPA - A fire outside of a Tampa home was extinguished before it got to the home of a woman and a baby, thanks to a barking dog.

Fire crews were called to the blaze just before 1:00 a.m. Tuesday at 1205 East 99 th Avenue.

According to officials, a neighbor's dog was barking and alerted the neighbor. That neighbor came over to the single story duplex and saw the fire outside of the home.

The neighbor knocked on the door, where a woman and an infant were. Both got out of the home safely.

Someone tried to extinguish the fire but they couldn't, so a fire crew was called. Firefighters were able to contain the fire before it could reach the home or cause any sever damage.

No one was injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
