Gunfire puts St. Pete school on lockdown

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - A St. Petersburg school was placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon after a teen was shot in the foot at a nearby park.

According to a preliminary report, a 16-year-old male was shot at Lake Vista Park at 62nd Avenue South and 16th Street.  He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Nearby Lakewood High School was placed on lockdown as a precaution. The lockdown was lifted around 2:15 p.m.

The injured teen told officers he was shot by a black male wearing a denim jacket and jeans.

The investigation is ongoing.
