PINELLAS PARK, Fla. - A woman died after an accident at a recycling plant in Pinellas Park Monday morning.
Pinellas Park Police Department investigators were on the scene at Recycling Services of Florida located at 3560 126th Avenue N.
82-year-old Ida Kuhlmann Pacheco was a frequent customer and investigators say she was there dropping off recyclable materials for cash when she wandered off into an area not meant for customers.
That's when they say an employee driving a front end loader depositing materials backed into her, running her over.
Employees called 911 as soon as they realized what happened, however, crews say she died before they could get her to a hospital.
Police are calling the incident a terrible accident.
"Then they mentioned her age. I said 'oh my God. Please don't be Ida. Please'," Ethel Smyrski said.
Smyrski learned about her friend's death on the news.
"That was her life. She enjoyed doing it so she died doing what she was happy with. She was making money," Smyrski said.
Smyrski said she knew Pacheco for 25 years.
"She had such a good heart," Smyrski said.
