Sarasota mom was on cocaine, other substances when her baby was hurt, Sarasota deputies say

SARASOTA - A 27-year-old Sarasota mother was arrested for child neglect after investigating an incident involving her six-month-old baby.

Deputies were called to Sarasota Memorial Hospital on Oct. 27 after Krista Mosley's baby was brought in with cuts to her face and head.

The same day, a 25-year-old man named Christopher Rounds was charged with aggravated child abuse in the case.

The child's mother, Mosley, and other witnesses told officials Rounds was under the influence of K2 and alcohol.

He was the only person awake when the child was hurt.

However, when speaking with detectives, Mosley admitted taking prescription medication and drinking alcohol before falling asleep the night the baby was injured.

A court ordered a urinalysis for Mosley.

Mosley tested positive for amphetamines, cocaine and benzodiazepines.

Detectives obtained a warrant for Mosley.

She was charged with Child Neglect and she was taken into custody today in Lee County.

The baby has been released from the hospital and is in the custody of relatives.
