Multiple fire departments responded to fire at Sea Gate Condos

LONG BOAT KEY, Fla. - Fire alarms woke up residents at Sea Gate Condominiums just before midnight Friday.

Long Boat Key fire officials say residents evacuated the building after a fire was reported in one of the condos.

Assisted by Sarasota County Fire Department, West Manatee Fire Rescue and Cedar Hammock Fire Rescue, LBK firefighters made entry into an apartment on the 12th floor where they found the fire.

Crews worked to extinguish the fire which was contained to the heating and air system within the condo.

No other condos were damaged during the fire.

Residents were let back into their condos shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday morning.

Fire officials were grateful residents heeded the fire alarms warning as some thought it was a false alarm.
