Winter Haven police are asking the public to help them find two people involved in shootout

WINTER HAVEN, Fla - Winter Haven Police are asking for the public's assistance in locating two people involved in a weekend shootout that left one person injured.

The shooting happened in broad daylight Sunday in the 100 block of Ave. P, NW in Winter Haven.

Officers say Marcus Walden, 24, and Darrius Austin, 22, argued and when the argument escalated, Walden left the left and came back with a gun.  As Walden was approaching the area, he fired three or four shots at Austin, according to officers.

According to witnesses, Austin was hit in the leg while he returned fire.

Austin reportedly got into a vehicle and drove off while Walden continued firing.  One shot hit the vehicle in the passenger door.

Police say Austin abandoned the vehicle at Palmetto and First St. NE and got into another vehicle driven by an unknown man.

Austin has not been located and has not made contact with police.   According to family members, he did not want to seek medical attention because of a warrant for his arrest stemming from violation of probation on burglary and assault charges from November 2012.

A warrant has been obtained for Marcus Walden for attempted homicide, possession of a firearm by a felon and violation of probation.

Police are asking for anyone who knows the whereabouts of either Walden or Austin, who both are considered armed and dangerous, to call Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS (8477).  Callers can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a CASH reward.
