Lakeland city leaders respond to state attorney after scandal
LAKELAND, Fla. - Lakeland City Commissioners decided Monday morning to draft a resolution to send to State Attorney Jerry Hill responding to his request for a meeting.
They said the meeting will be public, but they're going to request it be held in the city of Lakeland.
Hill had sent a letter admonishing city leadership and the police department over the department's ongoing scandals.
Commissioners decided City Manager Doug Thomas would meet with Hill, but Thomas declined the meeting, saying he wanted the meeting to be private.
