A driver was arrested Tuesday night after crashing into a Port Richey house and running away, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Robert Alan Doty, 22, ran a stop sign and crashed into the home at 6826 Sandalwood Drive, troopers said.

The 2007 Nissan Altima he drove struck a bed in the house where two residents slept, Pasco County officials said. The impact injured the residents and sent their bed through an interior wall.

Doty fled, going back to his home at 7235 San Salvadore Drive less than a mile away, troopers said. Law enforcement found him there and took him into custody about midnight.

Doty said he left the crash because he was scared, according to troopers.

He is charged with leaving the scene of a crash with injury, careless driving and failing to wear a seat belt, troopers said. His passenger, Yana Evelyn Turco, 30, was also cited for not wearing a seat belt.
