The owner of the Ford Expedition SUV involved in the dramatic hit-and-run caught on camera was arrested on Thursday night in Pasco County.

Samantha Maureen Henry, 22, was charged with filing a false police report after she admitted to law enforcement that she did know who had her vehicle and her vehicle was not stolen.

On Monday, May 15, Henry called the Sheriff's Office to report that her vehicle had been stolen and she didn't give anyone permission to use it.

Shortly before she reported the vehicle stolen, the SUV was observed driving recklessly on a surveillance camera and striking a child on a bike. The SUV then left the scene.

Deputies determined Samantha knew Christopher Try, the driver of the SUV at the time of the crash.

On Thursday, May 18, Deputies interviewed Henry and she continued to tell deputies that she did not know who had her vehicle or where it was. The investigators pointed out her inconsistencies and she then admitted that she made a false report out of fear.

“I told him I was going to report it stolen. He told me if I report it stolen he was going to beat my ass and kill me,” Henry said.

Henry was arrested Thursday, after investigators said she continued to lie, before finally admitting she knew that Christopher Try and Kevin Wilson had her truck, hit a teen on a bike, then drove off.

She was booked into the Pasco County Jail on the misdemeanor charge and bonded out shortly after.

Christopher Try remains in jail after he was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving injury and reckless driving resulting in the damage of a person and or property. Deputies continue to look for Kevin Wilson, 23, a person of interest in the case.
