Amairani Luna said the boys 9 and 10, she identified as brothers, knocked on her door asking for help.

"The kid said I got shot," Luna said.  "I seen like a little hole here on his right cheek and then on the back it was bleeding actually through his ear too."

Luna said the 10-year-old was very calm and talking to her about what happened.  Investigators said the boys were alone in the home playing with a gun when the child was shot.

The shooting happened in the 38000 block of Old Sparkman Road.

Luna said she's watched the kids before and said they are good kids.  As investigators try and piece together what happened.  Luna wants answers about why they had access to a gun.

"It was hurtful for me because I’ve known them since they were little," Luna said.
"I want to know how it happened.  How they get to the gun?  How they knew where it was?  I feel a little shaky right now I just want him to be OK I want his parents to be OK too."

The child was alert and talking when emergency crews arrived, but was rushed to a nearby hospital as a trauma alert.

If charges are filed investigators said they would be for child neglect.
