Keep Pinellas beautiful kicks off Adopt a Mile for Pinellas Trail

Clearwater, Fla. - Bill Romanski and his wife live right on the Pinellas Trail.

"Its unique. People come from all over the world to see our beautiful Pinellas Trail. And it is beautiful. And we want to keep it that way." said Romanski.

They're cleaning up the trail today as part of the Pinellas Trail Trash Bash, kicking off the Pinellas Trail's Adopt a Mile Program. Keep Pinellas Beautiful is looking for groups to volunteer to help keep the 47 mile trail clean. Adopting a mile requires a commitment to pick up trash and debris every other month for two years.

Brooke Cicero is an East Lake High School Senior. She's says shes happy to be out on a beautiful day, giving back to the community when a lot of people see it as simply a day off.

"We'd probably be in bed still right now. So its nice to come out something outdoors...get a walk in." said Cicero.

Since there are zero dollars budgeted for cleaning the Pinellas Trail, they're relying totally on the volunteers. If your group would like to Adopt a Mile, you can sign up on the website starting January 24th.
