TAMPA, Fla. — One person is dead after a crash in Hillsborough County.
Florida Highway Patrol responded to a three vehicle crash on SR-60, Adamo Drive, just east of Orient Road around 5 p.m. Saturday.
Troopers say that a Toyota Camry driven by a 43-year-old man crossed into the westbound lanes of Adamo Drive going the wrong-way for an unknown reason. The Camry collided with a concrete barrier wall, was redirected into the flow of traffic and collided with two other vehicles before going airborne and into the Tampa Bypass Canal and submerging.
The person driving the Camry died in the accident. The five people in the two other vehicles involved in the crash had minor injuries.
Adamo Drive was closed for over four hours while the crash was investigated.
