2 teens arrested after targeting, killing man in Wimauma, authorities say

WIMAUMA, Fla. — Two teenagers are facing first-degree murder charges after authorities say they targeted, carjacked and killed a man in Wimauma.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, a man in his early 20s to early 30s was found dead on the side of the road near 3500 County Road 579 on Nov. 21.

Authorities believe Yener Morales Perez, 18, and a 15-year-old suspect carjacked the victim at gunpoint and killed him in the process. They were arrested on Wednesday.

The victim's identity has not been released.

According to a press release, detectives believe the victim was targeted and the violence was not a random act.

The 15-year-old suspect, who were are not naming due to their age, was arrested and charged with principle to commit first-degree murder and armed carjacking.

Morales Perez was arrested on charges of first-degree murder with a firearm, armed carjacking and resisting an officer without violence.
