Citrus County deputies say an Inverness man shot his neighbor's dog during an argument

INVERNESS, Fla - An Inverness man is accused of shooting his neighbor's dog during a heated argument.

Cole States, of 6310 E. Tudor Street, Inverness, is now facing multiple charges including cruelty to animals and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Deputies say the 21-year-old and his neighbor got into a verbal argument over a hat and some other items of clothing.  During the fight, deputies say States pulled out a gun and shot his neighbor's dog in the shoulder.

The dog survived and is reportedly doing well.  The dog's breed or age was not given.

On November 4, deputies arrested States on an active warrant.

He is currently being held on $17,000 bond.
