CITRUS COUNTY, Fla - Citrus County deputies say a man faked being robbed at knifepoint because he was having a 'tough time" in life.
Robert Lee Wheeler, of 37 S. Jeffrey Street, in Beverly Hills, is charged with filing a false police report.
The 25-year-old reportedly called deputies to the Circle K gas station in Floral City back on September 18. When deputies arrived, Wheeler claimed a man attempted to rob him of his wallet at knifepoint and that the assailant tried to stab him.
Deputies say Wheeler also worked with a sketch artist to create a composite of the suspect.
On October 10, Wheeler went to the Citrus County Sheriff's Office for a follow up interview. During the interview, Wheeler told detectives he lied about the crime occurring because he was having a 'tough time' in his life.
Wheeler was arrested and taken to the Citrus County Jail.
