One dead, three injured in ATV crash in Polk County

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - Polk County deputies are investigating a deadly crash between an ATV and a bicycle. It happened around 10:30 p.m. Saturday night in Winter Haven.

According to deputies, witnesses say a black Polaris all-terrain-vehicle traveling westbound on Bomber Road  near Gerber Dairy Road passed them at a high rate of speed. The witness told deputies the ATV didn't have its lights on and appeared to brake and swerve in the distance. Deputies say the witness found the ATV upside down in a ditch and a mangled bicycle nearby.

Four victims were lying nearby but deputies say it's unclear who was on the ATV and who was on the bicycle.

The victims were identified as Israel Bible, Jr., 18, who was pronounced dead. Danny Bermea, Jr., 19, Ginno Cano, 21, and Jose Luis Cano-Mendez, 21, are all listed in critical condition at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.

Deputies say none of the victims were wearing helmets.
