When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? A firefighter, gymnast, or even movie star? Well, we asked some of our team and their responses were too cute not to share.
“When I was a little girl, I wanted to be an astronaut. I would stare up at the night sky and marvel at the sight of the moon and stars. I clearly remember wondering how I would describe them to my mom and dad once I got to space, but math came between me and the moon! I was so disappointed in the 4th grade when I realized astronauts need math! So, I did the next best thing: writing. I’ve been telling people’s stories ever since.”
“Lol…Well .... I wanted to be a mortician! I figured, I’d never lose my job and couldn’t screw up too badly! In the end, my stomach wasn't strong enough.”
“I wanted to be a news anchor when I was a child! I had two family members in the business already and I wanted to follow in their footsteps. Before that, when I was really young, I wanted to be a singer! I changed my mind when I realized that hard work could only get me so far before real singing talent is required."
“Growing up, I dreamed of being on stage as an actress! I loved putting on costumes, performing and singing for friends and family! This picture is from one of our family Christmas plays where my relatives came out to watch all of us kids perform. But then, I got to audition for a children’s news program for my local TV station and the love of journalism took over! I’ve wanted to be a reporter ever since and I can honestly say I am living my childhood dream!”
“When I was in High School I took a class in TV Broadcasting. This is where I fell in love with the idea of working in local news. Along with learning how to use a video camera and editing video, I also hosted our morning announcements and helped to cover school events. In college, I was a Telecommunications major and a professor encouraged me to look into being a meteorologist. She knew I liked science. After an internship with a local meteorologist, I was hooked on weather! I finished my degree in Telecommunications and went on to grad school to learn how to forecast...the rest is history!"
"When I was a little girl, I wanted to be an actress. At just 4-years old- my mom got me into modeling and acting in commercials & TV shows and I wanted to make it to the "big screen"! As the years passed, I realized I was much better at being ME - asking all the questions - instead of being TOLD what to say in a script. By college, I realized reporting was more my style since I LOVE writing! Besides, I ask way too many questions for any director's patience!"
"When I was growing up I wanted to be a herpetologist, one who studies reptiles and amphibians. I used to keep snakes and other critters at my house growing up, most of them I caught myself (God bless my parents for putting up with it). This picture shows me as a teenager with my pet Burmese python which eventually grew to more than 7 feet. No. I did not release it into the Everglades!"
