FORT LAUDERDALE - Police officers in Ft. Lauderdale have a new weapon in their arsenal to fight crime.
It's not a bullet or a stun gun, it's water!
It's called Smartwater.
The product is a forensically encoded liquid that comes in a bottle.
People can use it as an identifying marker on their belongings, or spray it on an intruder to help police identify criminals.
The residue lasts up to five years and only shows up under an ultraviolet black light.
