Huge hole opens up at Carrollwood intersection
NORTH TAMPA - An 8 X 8 foot hole opened up Monday morning in the area of Turner Road and Arbor Hills Road in the Carrollwood area of Hillsborough County after a homeowner backed into a fire hydrant.
The northbound and eastbound lanes of the intersection are closed.
County maintenance workers were called in. They said the fire hydrant did not break off when it was hit, but began leaking underground, creating the huge hole.
The intersection is located south of Ehrlich Road and east of the Veterans Expressway in the Carrollwood area.
